Buddy

I very much love to draw cats, and aspire to certain famous artists who drew cats beautifully. These are studies of our darling rescue cat Buddy, who passed away at a young age unexpectedly. A beautiful creamsicle cat, really known as a dilute orange mackerel tabby.

Santa Barbara Woman Charcoal on paper 46 X 35.5 Ca 1989 Framed, Not available Santa Barbara Woman, above, is a very large-scale drawing, not really a sketchbook drawing. At the time, I would take essential elements out of images, such as the child with whom this woman was playing. Likewise, the sculpture “Cloaked Figure” is missing an actual body.

GTA Pencil on Paper 17.5 X 21.75 This was sketched from the top of my VW bus in Minnesota in the late 70,s I believe.

Lion

Old study of a lion, from life. Cats are among my favorite subjects. I don't remember when I did this but it's been decades. It's possible it was drawn from one of the NY Museum of Natural History dioramas, because to even get this much detail, the lion would have been still for a surprising amount of time.
